Interview with: Shini Park from Park & Cube

Shini Park's blog, Park & Cube, has become pretty popular within a short period of time because of her ability to catch the reader's attention. She takes amazing photos and writes with a personal and appealing touch and it's impossible to stop following her blog, you just have to jump back to older entries, and back, and back. It's never enough.
I'm more than sure you'll add it among your favourite links right after reading this interview. Enjoy!

1-What would your perfect day involve?
My perfect day would be getting up very early (very rare) taking a good book out for morning coffee, exploring London in the early afternoon, then coming home before rush hour hits and working/playing through the evening! As sad as this may sound, I'm a little bit of a computer nerd, and my job (which is also my hobby and passion) requires me to be close to the machine, so I like keeping a bulk of my day free for that. I’m not much of a party girl but if there was to be socializing in the evening I’d do it in a fun restaurant with good company.
2-Favourite city in the world and why?
I haven’t yet lived in too many cities, but I’d say London is currently my favourite. Munich would follow straight after though! 3-Your happiest childhood memory?
Probably taking my braces off, it felt so good to run my tongue on smooth straight teeth! (Although now it’s mostly gone back…!)
4-If you had to choose...breakfast, lunch or dinner...favourite?And what do you love to eat?
I’d say my favourite was a fruity breakfast with pancakes, but only because I eat it so rarely. I love to eat Mexican food and Korean food otherwise! 5-Where do you live in London and why?
I live in the West of London in a quite posh neighbourhood called Chiswick. It’s not like incredibly rich people live there, it’s mostly families but I absolutely love how safe it is and how there is a community in the neighbourhood.
6-Blog seems visually all about textures, colours, skills. Despite studying Graphic Design how is it you are so handy crafty?! Self taught?
Contrary to wide belief, Graphic Design is hardly about computers! It’s mostly about working with your fingers, doing letterpress, screenprinting, playing with paper and materials… So naturally I’m quite comfortable with my hands!
7-Favourite haberdashery for buying all nic nacs?
For basics and necessary haberdashery, like tools for DIY, sewing or knitting I go to John Lewis or Liberty of London, but nic nacs like buttons, zippers, ribbons I go to markets like Portobello Market or even ebay! 8-First website you hit in the morning?
My first 3 websites that load automatically are Tumblr, Bloglovin’ and Gmail. So I’d get up to a pile of inspirational photos through Tumblr, and posts by favourite blogs (if they posted, of course) through Bloglovin’!
9-Could you name some people you really admire (dead or alive)and tell us why?
Being a fashion blogger, I naturally look up to other fashion bloggers such as Susie (Style Bubble) or Queen Michelle (Kingdom of Style), I absolutely adore how they look into the shape, colours and dynamics of apparel. 10-How come you're so good at taking photographs? What kind of camera do you use?
I’ve had a camera stuck to my hand since Junior year in highschool when I first got my point-and-shoot Nikon. I’ve been taking pictures of everything and everyone since a young age so I guess I naturally got used to taking photos and working the camera! I use a Canon EOS 400D currently for the blog.
11-Do you have any young illustrator, designer, artist to recommend?
I’ve been quite fascinated by Silja Manninen, a CSM MA graduate that seems to love playing around with ropes. Her MA pieces showed in AW03 in LFW, but I got to see her exhibition that was in the Freemasons’ Hall this AW10 season. I adore her experimentation with ropes and how they are tied and constructed to form lines and barriers across the body.
